On September 5, in celebration of the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan and to commemorate the birthday of the outstanding educator and national teacher Akhmet Baitursynuly, the library staff of Isatay Abdikarimov Kyzylorda Polytechnic Higher College organized a library session entitled “Language Heritage – Together with Books.”The purpose of the event was to help students understand the value and significance of their native language, introduce them to the richness and beauty of the Kazakh language through books, promote national values, and increase their interest in reading.
The event consisted of four stages:
1.“Language – the Pillar of the Nation”
The first stage focused on Akhmet Baitursynuly’s contribution to the development of the Kazakh language and the significance of the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan. The participants were also introduced to the book exhibition entitled “Language – the Spiritual Treasure of the Nation.”
2.“Master of Words”
During the second stage, the participants were introduced to rare and expressive words found in works of classical Kazakh literature. Their meanings and linguistic features were also discussed.
3.“Classics – the Artistic Mirror of Language”
The third stage explored the meaning of quotations and expressions reflecting folk wisdom and found in literary works. A virtual presentation was organized on a web page to demonstrate the connection between language, literature, and books.
4.“A Conversation with a Book”
As part of the practical readers’ corner, students expressively read excerpts from literary works that demonstrate the beauty and richness of their native language. They also shared their impressions and reflections on the books they had read.In addition, a question-and-answer session and educational games were organized for the participants. These activities allowed students to test their language skills and literary knowledge and demonstrate the richness of their vocabulary.During the event, the students realized that the richness of the Kazakh language lies not only in its vocabulary, but also in the spiritual heritage preserved in every literary work and on every page of a book.Language is the spiritual treasure of a nation, while a book is the golden bridge that carries this treasure to future generations.
